About Elyse
I’ve always been drawn to movement, and I was searching for something that felt both challenging and deeply grounding when I stepped into my first yoga class in Santa Cruz in 1995. That moment changed the trajectory of my life. I continued my practice in San Francisco and Oakland, eventually completing my first teacher training in 2014.
As a teacher, my hope is to create an atmosphere where students can safely explore new edges, reconnect with themselves, and experience practice as something that strengthens the body, softens the mind, awakens the heart, and nourishes the soul.
Teaching keeps me humble and curious; it requires that I remain a student—not just of yoga, but of life. I’ve taught English for more than 20 years, and I currently teach English, alongside my work as a therapist. These roles continually remind me of the power of connection, language, awareness, and compassion.
When I’m not in the classroom or on my mat, you can find me hiking the trails, running along the coast, reading something beautiful, or spending time with my son, my husband and the people I love.
